SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS AND PRECAUTIONS

SAFETY GUIDELINES

SUP SURFING IS ONE OF THE SAFEST SPORTS ON THE WATER
However, some safety rules in SUP surfing should not be neglected. *

* These are only recommendations.
— If you require a complete Safety and Precautions Guide for SUP Surfing, please consult the experts.
— 3 STARS Ltd. is not responsible for your safety.
Before making a booking, you should read our Service Agreement for more information.
WEATHER.
CHECK THE WEATHER FORECAST BEFORE GOING TO SEA
Currently, there are many global and local services with weather forecasts.
Some services give more accurate forecasts, others less accurate.
Therefore, we recommend that you check with several sources of the weather forecast, below are links to some of them with a weather forecast for Kemer: Gismeteo, windguru, or AccuWeather.
LOCAL RULES.
FOLLOW LOCAL ADVICE
The sea can be unpredictable, so we recommend checking local sources of information about the safety of the waters in the area before going out to sea.
The area where you choose to swim may be a dangerous part of the coastal area, so check with your local coast guard or port staff.
WIND.
SILENT WEATHER IS RARE IN THE OPEN SEA
Look where the wind is blowing and how strong it is, because the wind is one of the biggest limiters for riders. When you get on the SUP board, you become a "sail" and depending on which way the wind blows, you will sail easily or difficultly.
For safe riding, the wind must blow on the shore (Onshore) or in the direction where you need to return. It is strongly not recommended to sail with the wind, it will be difficult to return (especially if you are a beginner and do not have serious physical training).
Moreover, it is worth considering that the wind can change its direction, and this happens very often. Therefore, if the wind is strong, you should refrain from riding at all.
WAVES AND CURRENT.
THEY FREQUENTLY CHANGE DIRECTION IN THE SEA
The current can quickly carry you away, it is often difficult, if not impossible, to resist. Therefore, study the current: its direction and strength. It is better to swim there against the current, and back with the current.
If you decide to ride the sea, study the current. This cannot be done visually. It is worth looking at the current map and studying the range of the reef zone, within which there are either no currents or they are weak. Behind the reefs, the currents become very strong, even an experienced swimmer cannot cope with them.
TIDES.
BE AWARE OF THE TIDES AND LOW TIDES
When planning to go out to sea, be aware of the times and strengths of the tides, and always seek the advice of local experts if you feel unsure.
EQUIPMENT.
DO NOT USE FAULTY EQUIPMENT
While we always test our kits before we rent them out, things can go wrong.
— If you have any doubts about the equipment, do not use it and contact us immediately
— We will do our best to solve any problems with the equipment quickly and without compromising your mood.
SUP-BOARD.
IT MUST BE SUITABLE FOR THE WEIGHT
All SUPHERO kits are supplied with double-layer, universal walking SUP boards with a wide stern and a wide range of maximum loads.
— If the rider's weight exceeds the maximum allowable load, then the SUP board will sink, bend, and its stability will decrease, which is unsafe.
— If the SUP board is much larger than the d weight of the rider, then it will require a lot of effort to control, and the rider will quickly run out of strength.
PADDLE.
IT MUST BE STRONGLY ASSEMBLED
All SUPHERO kits come with adjustable 3-piece carbon paddles.
When assembling such a paddle, make sure that all parts are correctly and firmly fastened together and that characteristic clicks are heard when connected.
— If the paddle is assembled poorly, its blade can fall off and drown, and you will have to row to the shore with his hands.
— When assembling an adjustable length paddle, do not fix the paddle above the maximum mark, otherwise, the paddle will break on the principle of a lever, not having the proper opportunity to compensate for the efforts of the rider at the junction.
FIN.
IT MUST BE ATTACHED TO A CLICK
All SUPHERO kits come with 3-piece carbon paddles.
— If the fin does not click into place, the fin may fall out. It's not a big deal if the board has extra fins glued on, but it's very dangerous if it's the only fin.
— Without the fin, the SUP board becomes a simple, out-of-control air mattress.
SAFETY LEASH.
TIE YOUR SUP BOARD TO YOUR FOOT
All SUPHERO kits are supplied with twisted safety leashes.
– When falling, especially on waves or in high currents, the SUP board will quickly run away from you, so in order not to rush to swim after it (besides the board, you will also need to swim behind the oar!) And you need a safety leash.
— There are two types of safety leash — straight for waves and twisted/coiled for smooth water.
LIFE VEST.
USE A PERSONAL FLOTATION DEVICES
We recommend the use of personal flotation devices (PFDs) or life vests while on the water.
— For people who can swim, we recommend using life jackets of at least 50 Newtons.
— For insecure swimmers and young children, we recommend life vests of at least 100 Newtons.
— We do not recommend renting SUP boards to those who cannot swim and may refuse to rent any of our SUPHERO KITS for this reason.

During the booking of SUPHERO kits, you will have the opportunity to additionally rent Life vests for you and your crew.
STANDING UP.
EASY-PEASY. FIRST ON YOUR KNEES AND THEN IN FULL GROWTH
At the very beginning, we suggest kneeling on a SUP board until you gain confidence. Then, once you've mastered the move to the stance, you can safely get up on the SUP board almost whenever you want.
In any case, do not lie down, sit down, or stand on the SUP board in shallow water or near hard objects such as rocks or breakers. In addition to losing your fin, the SUP board can also get damaged.
SUN.
BRING YOUR CLOTHES, SUN CREAM, AND GLASSES
Prolonged exposure to the sun is fraught with burns.
— It is better to use special clothing with UV protection and high-quality, moisture-resistant sunscreen.
— Also, use special sunglasses for water sports with an elastic band or a cord for better fixation. Alternatively, you can tie a string or elastic to your favorite sunglasses. Remember that when falling into the water, goggles without insurance in the blink of an eye are in the water and rush to the bottom.
CLOTHES AND SHOES.
ONLY SUITABLE FOR SUN AND WATER
Do not wear jeans or other absorbent clothing, rubber boots, or heavy or bulky items.
— Take spare clothes with you in an airtight bag if you are paddling long distances.
— Put on a wetsuit if it's still cool outside or the water hasn't warmed up yet.
— We recommend wearing light shoes to protect your feet when getting off in shallow water.

During the booking of SUPHERO kits, you will have the opportunity to additionally rent a 10-liter hermetic dry bag for clothes.
DEHYDRATION.
SUP BOARD IS A CROSS-TRAINER FOR AEROBIC AND STRENGTH EXERCISES
Even if you are going to ride for an hour or two, take a bottle of drinking water with you.
— In the heat and when rowing, the body quickly dehydrates, and you can even get sunstroke.
— If you are sailing far, then you need to take enough water.
— On long trips, of course, you will need to take food with you. Choose nutritious, compact, and non-perishable foods.
CONNECTION.
BE SURE TO TELL YOUR LOVED ONES ON YOUR TRIP
Before leaving, let your loved ones know about your planned route and what time you are going to return.
— If you have left the route, pass the information about this to friends or relatives by phone. Without the need, if it is impossible to report a change in the route, you should not change it.
Take a charged mobile phone with you and put it in a waterproof case. Charging should be enough for the trip there and back. If you are planning a multi-day marathon, take a capacious power bank with you.

When booking SUPHERO packages, you will have the opportunity to additionally rent a waterproof phone case.
RIDING WITH KIDS.
ALWAYS SUPERVISE YOUNG PEOPLE
As parents ourselves, we feel that all people under 18 years should be supervised when on the water in all conditions.

Regardless of the child's age, give them a short safety briefing on the shore, explain the rules of riding SUP boards, and help them put on a life jacket. For children, even those who know how to swim well, a life jacket is a must!
— If a child is under 10 years old, then parents usually ride him on board a SUP board. In this case, you should not swim far away — the child will quickly get tired of sitting, and it will be more difficult for you to row with additional responsibility and weight.
— If a child is over 10 years old and swims on a separate SUP board, then it is necessary to ensure that it is a children's board or a small one, since it will be difficult for the child to swim on a large board, and he will soon run out of strength. The paddle should be for children or the lightest, aluminum paddles are very heavy for the child, again, he will soon get tired. Take a rope with you, if the baby is exhausted, take him in tow. The child should swim in front of you or between you and another adult, in the line of sight and clear hearing of an adult.
TEAM RIDING.
THE GROUP MUST HAVE AN INSTRUCTOR OR AN EXPERIENCED RIDER
If you plan to ride in a group, stick together and don't scatter. On the shore, decide who will be the leader and who will be the last column.
Do not overtake the leader. If someone in the team is lagging, you need to decide what to do about it and find out the reasons.
